The Tangente is the definitive modern Bauhaus watch. Clean sans-serif Arabic numerals, blued steel hands, and NOMOS' in-house Alpha movement in a case so thin it slides under any cuff. What I love about this watch is that it feels like it exists outside of trends - buy one and you'll wear it 30 years from now without ever feeling like it's dated. Genuine value at a genuine price.
Bought this as my dress watch and it works for so much more. That Bauhaus dial layout is beautiful - I never get tired of looking at it. Manual wind takes some getting used to if you're coming from automatics, but honestly I've come to enjoy the winding ritual. Only complaint: the strap options are pretty limited.
This was my first "real" watch and it's still one of my favorites. The Bauhaus aesthetic just works with everything I own. It's thin, elegant, easy to wear, and NOMOS being independent makes it feel more special than owning a big-brand piece. Fantastic starter piece for anyone getting into watches.
The Tangente. It's clean. It's understated. I dig the aesthetic. I mean, I probably wouldn't spend the cash on one - that's some serious money for a mechanical watch - but the Bauhaus thing, form follows function, that's a fundamental. I respect it.
In the Tangente we find the essence of the wristwatch made manifest. Numbers indicating the hours; hands indicating the position of those hours; a plate to hold both. What could be added that would not diminish? What could be removed without loss? I put it to you that here we have design as philosophy - clarity in service of a single purpose.
