Look, the Royal Oak is an icon and this double balance wheel movement is genuinely impressive from a technical standpoint, but at this price point I keep thinking about what you're really paying for versus what you're getting on the wrist. The openworked case is beautiful if you're into that aesthetic, but it feels like AP is asking flagship money for something that doesn't quite hit the same satisfaction level as a properly finished Grand Seiko - the finishing is good, don't get me wrong, just not zaratsu-level obsessive. Solid collector's piece if the Royal Oak DNA speaks to you, but not without some compromises.
